NVL-IX is an Internet Exchange operated by Novelcomm. Anyone can peer to NVL-IX as long as they have an AS number assigned to them by a Regional Internet Registry.

The mission of NVL-IX is to facilitate and promote peering between Content Providers and Internet Service Providers.
This can be achieved only if its MEMBERS volunteer to open peerings.
As such NVL-IX recommends to its members to actively seek for opening peerings.

However, NVL-IX can and will not take any responsibility that a given MEMBER will not accept peering with another member.

Peering requirements:

• Peering partner needs to have an AS number assigned to them by a Regional Internet Registry
• Both IPv4 and IPv6 network will be announced on the peering platform
• Peering partner requires an edge router capable of running BGP protocols
• The smallest network prefix for IPv4 accepted on the NVL-IX is /24, for a IPv6 network it’s a /48
• Only prefixes valid IRR or RPKI prefixes will be accepted
• The preferred way of establish peering sessions is through the NVL-IX route servers, but peering sessions between members are allowed
• Only BGP should be used for routing over NVL-IX, static routes or other protocol shall not be used
• In the event of problems due to leaked advertisements, our policy is to shut down the session and seek clarifications
• Only announce prefixes with its own next-hop IP address
• Members must not redistribute Peering LAN network IPv4 or IPv6, of the traffic exchange point, beyond their network

Peering policies:

• Open: the member establishes peering on demand from any member of NVL-IX
• Selective: the member establishes peering after evaluating the requesting member
• Paid Peering: in case a member, requires to be paid in order to establish a bilateral peering, this has to be agreed between the members, and in no case NVL-IX has any responsibilities on that agreement
